The modern renter doesn’t just want to live in a smart, connected environment with modern amenities — they expect it. In fact, according to a Rent.com survey, 82% of renters want at least one smart home device or system in their residence. Smart home amenities provide renters with unmatched comfort, convenience, security, and cost savings.

On top of the renter benefits, rental property managers and operators have realized that smart home technology helps resolve immediate, transitional, and long-term challenges they typically experience. Specifically, deploying smart home technology immediately increases NOI, gradually centralizes operations for maximum efficiency, and creates a lasting alignment with the growing renter preference for on-demand services and modern amenities.

That’s why we’re always innovating and improving at Rently. More than ever, smart home has become a necessity as tech-savvy renters demand more convenience, and we are ready to meet that demand head-on. The newest version of the Rently Smart Home Hub is designed for the modern renter, providing enhanced connectivity and communication.

Rently Smart Home Hub 4 and Schematic

A smart home hub, also known as a home automation hub, is a device that connects and controls smart devices in a home or apartment. It acts as the central hub for a home’s smart devices, allowing users to control them all from one place. Smart home hubs can connect to devices locally or to the cloud. A hub can be used to control a variety of devices, including light switches, smart locks, doorbell cameras, thermostats, and so much more!

Connected smart devices automate various household tasks, allowing for remote control of your home, and often enhancing energy efficiency through features like smart thermostats and lighting systems, owners/operators and property managers are ultimately improving the overall lifestyle within the apartment.

Introducing the New Smart Hub for the Modern Renter

Rently newest Smart Home Hub 4.2 powers a carrier-agnostic SIM to connect to multiple networks and automatically determines the best network available. It has Z-Wave and Matter capabilities, additional memory, an LED indicator, and SmartStart and S2 Security support for even easier installations.

The new Rently Hub provides seamless connectivity via 3G/4G LTE, Wi-Fi, or Ethernet. Its new chipset significantly improves connectivity by ensuring stable and reliable communication between devices.

Additionally, we’ve introduced a carrier-agnostic SIM that can connect to multiple networks and determine the best network available at that point. Based on a merit system (threshold level) for network coverage, when the signal strength drops below a particular predetermined value, the SIM will then connect to the next best available network. In other words, our smart home hubs can automatically switch between carrier networks depending upon the best signal strength, offering unprecedented flexibility and reliability in maintaining internet connections and eliminating pairing issues.

Rently also offers a wide range of best-in-class hardware solutions across our four Smart Home Pillars, so you can pick and choose what devices best suit your needs.
